Masks will be recommended, not required, beginning Monday, November 15, 2021.

On November 9, 2021, by a 3-2 vote, the WMCSD Board of Trustees voted to make masks recommended, not required.  Survey data was collected from both employees and parents.   The survey data collected from WMCSD employees was about 60/40 to make masks recommended, not required, while the data from parents was split at about 50/50.  Data from the surveys along with a statement from the WMCSD Academic Leadership Team in support of continuing the mask requirements at least until December 6, 2021, were presented to the Board prior to the meeting.

Much of the WMCSD Return to Work/School Procedures remains the same with exception of the requirements around face coverings.  Click the link above to see the entire document.

WMCSD Superintendent, Dr. Teresa Jackson, shared the plan with staff on the morning of Friday, November 12th along with the statement, "I want to personally thank each one of you for your support of the WMCSD plan throughout the last two years.  Your work along with that of our students and their families have allowed us to safely return to face-to-face instruction as quickly as possible without having to shut down or exclude entire grades or buildings.  I expect that you will continue your support of the plan and of students, employees, and families who choose to continue to wear masks."
