The Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District is committed to our vision of “Working together, Moving forward, Creating opportunities for Student success and Dynamic futures.” We are currently working with staff to define each phrase of the vision statement by gathering their thoughts and ideas in a survey released June 23, 2021. In the near future, we will provide our parents, community members, and students with the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about how we can better accomplish the district’s vision.
As a part of the work we must do in order to provide the best education possible for every WMCSD student, we have engaged with Hanover Research to train a group of school and district leaders in the best practices related to equity. This group will be used to train the employees at each school location. WMCSD began this work in October of 2020 and will culminate the “train-the-trainer” type workshops on July 15, 2021.
As shared at the June 29, 2021 meeting of the Board of Trustees, we will continue and expand the district’s work to include all employees in the 2021-2022 school year and will focus on the following areas:
- Cultural sensitivity training
- Training all staff on issues related to equity
- Bridging the gap between leaders and staff
- Creating buy-in from all stakeholders
- Communicating equity findings and plans to all stakeholders
- Continued data collection
- Implementing an equity plan school and district-wide
For the 2021-2022 school year, not only will Hanover Research develop projects and support to meet the needs listed above, they will also provide quarterly updates to the Board of Trustees. Research services may include custom research reports, survey design, administration and analysis, interviews with industry/issue experts, secondary research, data analysis, and benchmarking.
Thank you for your continued support of Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District.
