Tiger with mouth open

It’s a Great Day to be a TIGER!

COVID-19 Report On Tuesday, September 8, our weekly report was updated to include new data from the weekend.  WMCSD has four employees who are quarantined - 3 are close contacts of someone who is infected and 1 has a positive test result.  We have 12 new student quarantines this week in addition to the 2 remaining from last week.  Three students have/had positive test results.  Parents of students who are considered a group contact or close contact are notified as soon as possible even after school hours and on weekends.  It is crucial that the schools have updated phone numbers for parents.  Please check your information today.

You can see the letters for group contacts, close contacts, and positive test results on our website at winonamontgomerycsd.com.  If you have a question or concern, email us at tigertalk@winonaschools.net or call your child’s school.

Enhanced Hybrid Beginning Monday, September 14, students will participate in an ENHANCED HYBRID SCHEDULE.  The school day will be lengthened back to a regular day adding about an hour to each day. On September 9, schedules will be posted on our website and sent home with students the 9th and 10th.

Enhanced Hybrid for Winona Secondary  Students in grades 7-12 will attend every other Friday based on an assigned schedule.  For example:

  • Week of Sept 14: Monday/Wednesday students will also attend on Friday, Sept 18.

  • Week of Sept 21: Tuesday/Thursday students will also attend on Friday, Sept 26.

Again, the goal is to return to a traditional schedule as soon as possible while still being able to maintain the protocols needed to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Child Nutrition Parents, please encourage your child to pick up breakfast and lunch for the next day and bring it home.  Our cafeteria staff is working super hard and doing a fantastic job!  All WMCSD students receive free breakfast and lunch each day they attend.  Students who are attending Hybrid classes are able to pick up a bag with breakfast and lunch for the next day as they leave. At-Home Learning Program students are able to schedule a pick up time for meals.  Call Child Nutrition Supervisor Mrs. Betty Forrest at (662) 283-1007 for more information.

Athletics In football news, WHS beat the Kosciusko Whippets with a score of 49-39 Friday night at Tiger Stadium.  The Tigers will be on the road this week as they take on JZ George at 7:00pm.  #LEADERS - Players of the Week are Deriaun Townsend on offense and Khristian Williams on defense. Congratulations to them and all the football players and coaches for a great first win!

The Lady Tigers Volleyball Team recorded their first win over Pillow Academy.  They continued to be successful with JV and Varsity wins over Ethel on Tuesday night.  The girls will be back in action at home Wednesday and Thursday against Kosciusko and Ethel.  For game dates and times, go to our website.  Cross Country will compete in their first meet at French Camp on September 12.

Tiger Pride We are so proud of our students and families who are working so hard to make this a successful year full of teaching and learning.  Thank you for wearing masks, physically distancing, washing hands often, and reporting when people in the household have a positive test.  Thank you to parents of Hybrid students for sending your children to school ready to learn. Thank you to parents of At-Home students for helping your children adjust to a new way of learning.  None of this is easy, but you are doing an outstanding job!  Teachers and principals are complimenting students and parents every chance they get, so keep up the awesome work! #LEADERS
