It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!
Last week, WMCSD Board members spent an entire day in the district. They started the day at Central Office with a delicious breakfast provided by the WSS cafeteria staff. Child Nutrition Director Betty Forrest and her staff did a fantastic job.
Next, the five board members traveled by bus to Winona Elementary where a group of outstanding sixth graders took them on a guided tour throughout the building highlighting programs and accomplishments of each grade level. Principal Tabitha McCrory was there to answer any questions the Board may have and show them the improvements being made in several areas of the building.
Before lunch, the Board was shuttled by Transportation Director Jeff Davis as they toured athletic facilities and fields with Athletic Director Helms. Lunch was prepared by Winona Career and Tech’s culinary arts students and their instructor, Mrs. Libby Carson.
Next, WCTC Director Veronica Helms showed the Board the classrooms and shops of all the career and tech programs. Finally, the Board finished the day with visiting several classes at Winona Secondary with Principal Donna Bishop and student representatives.
