It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!
WMCSD is proud to announce that our district and each of our schools increased by a letter grade. WMCSD, WES, and WSS are all rated C on the Mississippi Statewide Accountability Model. Thank you to every student, teacher, administrator, staff member, and the families that supported them in the effort to raise student achievement. WMCSD consolidated in 2018-2019. Since that time, testing has been interrupted by COVID, and we were assigned the same letter grade we received in 2019. We are so proud to be living our vision “Working together, Moving forward, Creating opportunities for Student success and Dynamic futures.”
Can you believe that we have been in school for nearly nine weeks? October 7th marks the end of the first 9 weeks of school. Please encourage your child to do his/her best on the benchmark assessments and 9 weeks tests. We want students to show what all they have learned during the first 45 days of school. Teachers, students, and staff have been working hard teaching and learning and are looking forward to Fall Break on October 10th and 11th. Students will enjoy a holiday on both days while teachers and staff will be out on Monday and return on Tuesday for professional development.
October is a busy month in WMCSD. First up, October is National Principals Month. What a great opportunity to celebrate and honor our incredible school principals for their dedication and hard work to make our schools the best they can be! Be sure to let our principals know how much you appreciate them. We are proud to have two outstanding school leaders in Winona Elementary Principal, Mrs. Tabitha McCrory, and Winona Secondary Principal, Ms. Donna Bishop.
Next, we are happy to celebrate School Custodian Appreciation Week October 3rd - 7th. Thank you to our ABM custodians who keep our facilities sparkling clean.

WMCSD students are taking their first nine weeks benchmark assessments. These assessments give teachers and students valuable information on progress made toward mastering grade-level standards. We ask that you support students being successful in academics by:
- asking them what they are learning,
- making sure they complete homework assignments,
- encouraging them to read regularly, and
- motivating them to do their best on all assessments.
Students of all ages could benefit from a regular bedtime, limited screen time, and not having devices in their bedrooms at night. If you have questions about how to help your child academically, you can visit our website for parenting tips at winonamontogmerycsd.com or go to the MS Department of Education website at mdek12.org for parent resources.
The next regular meeting of the WMCSD Board is October 11th at 6:00 pm at the Superintendent’s Office.
The Power of Positivity is evident in WMCSD!
