Winona Secondary There are several options for WSS students to participate in online and in-person classes this summer. Please read carefully to see what option is best for your child. If you have questions, please call the school at (662) 283-1244.

  • Option 2: Earning a Credit for students who would like to earn one (1) Carnegie unit.
  • Option 3: Summer Learning Enrichment Camp for 7th and 8th grade students who passed all courses with a 65 or higher, but would like to receive more instruction in English and/or math.
  • Option 4: Summer Learning Enrichment Online Learning for 9th through 11th grade students who passed all of their courses with a 65 or higher, but would like to receive more instruction in preparation for the next school.

SEL Camps in July SEL stands for Social Emotional Learning. Social emotional learning helps students to understand their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, and maintain positive relationships. The Mississippi Department of Education has set 5 SEL standards for schools to work on with students. These standards are self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, and relationship skills.

SEL Camp is a way to begin introducing these standards to students. If you are interested in your child attending this program, please fill out the survey at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeRfuYtMwmRQ0ZY3adBx20gF4ys48-9dJefpfET7_QK8Srdmg/viewform?usp=sf_link. Once we see how many students are interested, we will set more specific plans and send sign up forms home with students.

Operations

We have lots of summer projects on our list to be completed at each building.  ABM provides all maintenance and custodial services to the district and will work with district leadership to plan for how to accomplish the summer projects.

All portions of the Entegrity project have been completed with the exception of a few windows, completing the interior repairs to window sills, and installing blinds in each classroom. Work was halted at the beginning of May due to testing. Work will resume the last week of May and should be completed by the end of June. The air conditioning project at JJ Knox Gym is almost complete.
