It’s a Great Day to be a TIGER!  WMCSD wishes a happy Veteran’s Day to all of those who have served our country.  

Academic Programming Progress Reports were sent out today.  On Friday, November 13th, students will work from home so teachers can learn more about incorporating technology to improve teaching and learning.  

Operations To keep our players and fans safe at indoor events, basketball tickets are limited to two per participant.  Players have submitted names of the people who can purchase tickets.  When purchasing a ticket, you will be required to show your ID.  This procedure will be in effect for both home and visiting teams. We hope you can join us on Friday, November 13th at Tiger Stadium where we will take on Senatobia in the second round playoff game. Tickets are on sale in the high school office and are $8.00 each. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on the night of the game.

Family and Community Support Congratulations to our New Board Members to be sworn in January 2021:  Chase DeNoon - District 1, Brandye Brannon - District 2, Katherine Hughes - District 3, Jill White - District 4, and Nora Dunn - District 5.  Mrs. Brannon, Mrs. White, Ms. Dunn, along with Mrs. Cheryl Small and Mr. Tim Privitt will serve in their current positions until December 31, 2020.

Health and Safety WMCSD welcomes School Resource Officer Britt Goodin.  Officer Goodin will be working at Winona Elementary School.  He is from Mathiston and is a retiree of the Mississippi Highway Patrol after 24 years of faithful service.  He is married to Tracy Goodin and has two children, Conner and Jersie Claire. He was sworn in at the November 10th board meeting.

Technology/Learning Management Systems Winona Secondary is completing the assignment of Chromebooks to students. Thursday, November 12 is a Make Up day for students in grades 7-12 from 4:00-6:00pm. Last names beginning with A-L from 4:00-5:00 and last names beginning with M-Z from 5:00-6:00.  This is also the night for At-Home Learners to pick up their Chromebooks. 

ONE Parent/ Guardian will come with each student to check out their device.  Please DO NOT bring any additional children or adults with you to sign out day. Enter through the main door on Fairground Street and proceed down the south hallway. If you have not been able to come to any of the pickup nights, please call Coach Helms in the WSS office to schedule a time to come sign out your child’s chromebook. (WSS Office 662-283-1244)

Parent/Guardian & Student MUST:

1. Sign all applicable paperwork. (WMCSD Acceptable Use Policy, Student Technology Equipment Checkout Form, & Technology Equipment Agreement Form)

2. Students will be assigned a Chromebook and battery charger through the library system.

3. Students will receive a tag with their name and Patron ID to apply to the front of the Chromebook.

DEVICE CHECK UPS - Students will be responsible for bringing their Chromebooks to school each day FULLY charged.  Once per month, English teachers will have a Chromebook check up day.  Students must allow the Chromebooks to be examined and demonstrate that they are in working order.

SIGN IN - At the end of the year, Chromebooks will be returned on the final full day of classes before exams.  Students will not be allowed to take exams unless their chromebooks are returned.  Students will be called by grade to the library for chromebook sign in.

Winona Elementary sent home permission slips for personal device usage on November 4, 2020. Parents could choose to either have their children leave devices at school or take them home. Devices will remain at Winona Elementary School until teachers have taught children about device care, how to use online programs, and internet safety. Devices will not be sent home every night. Students will take devices home as needed.
