WMCSD follows the guidance of the MS State Department of Health and the CDC.  In compliance with our protocols, WMCSD has issued the following quarantines.  Students and employees who are quarantined must stay at home.  They are not allowed on school campuses at anytime during the quarantine period.  More information on protecting yourself and others can be found at https://msdh.ms.gov/ and cdc.gov.

October 20 - One student athlete tested positive.  Contact tracing was completed and 21 student athletes and 2 coaches were quarantined. 

October 21 - One student athlete and one coach tested positive.  Three positive cases in any group is considered an outbreak. The football team and coaches are quarantined for 14 days.  Contact tracing revealed the need to quarantine additional student athletes who had contact with the coach.  All parents were contacted by a school administrator by telephone.

Actual numbers for the week until this point, as well as games that have been cancelled or rescheduled, are listed below. These numbers are subject to change, and the latest data will be reported on Monday, October 26 for the week of October 19-23.

57 students quarantined 

  • 3 at Winona Elementary - 0 with positive test results
  • 54 at Winona Secondary - 2 with positive test results

BASKETBALL - High School Boys and Girls

  • October 24 - Cancelled @ Independence Jamboree
  • November 3 - Cancelled Basketball vs Coffeeville

BASKETBALL - Jr High Boys and Girls - We will attempt to reschedule games after November 5th.  Information will be 

  • October 22 -  vs JZ George 
  • October 26 -  vs Choctaw Co.
  • October 29 -  @ East Webster
  • November 2 -  vs Kosciusko
