Tiger with mouth open

It’s a Great Day to be a Tiger!  I can hardly believe this is the last full week of June.  The summer is going by so quickly as we are preparing for the 2020-2021 school year.  We will announce the plan on or before July 6th.  This gives school and district leaders time to meet with the COVID-19 Task Force, gather more information, and listen to the concerns of our parents and community.

The goal is to have a traditional schedule while using CDC guidance for reducing the spread of COVID-19.  Importantly,  80% of parents who responded to the district’s survey supported the traditional schedule with 8% stating that their children have health issues that would impact their decision to attend.

On Monday, June 22nd, WMCSD leaders met with the Winona Ministerial Alliance to develop a plan and partnership in order to better serve our nearly 1,300 students and their families. We understand that to educate our students, we must first meet their basic needs and form caring relationships with them and their families.  Any church leader who would like to be a part of this outreach can call the Superintendent’s Office at (662) 283-3731 ext. 1.

WELCOME NEW FACULTY AND STAFF Check out our website and Facebook page to see all our new faculty and staff members.  We extend a warm TIGER welcome to all our new employees!

GRAB-and-GO MEALS Please take advantage of GRAB-and-GO meals.  Our outstanding cafeteria staff, under the direction of Child Nutrition Supervisor Mrs. Betty Forrest, is serving meals on Mondays (2 breakfasts and 2 lunches) and Wednesdays (3 breakfasts and 2 lunches) from 10:30am - 12:00pm at Winona Elementary School at 513 Applegate Street, Winona.

  • All children under 18 eat free.

  • Children do not have to be WMCSD students to participate.

  • No walk ups will be allowed.

  • Food safety instructions will be included.

REGISTRATION for returning students is online from June 8th - 26th. First, parents/guardians of returning students must create a new ActiveParent account by going to winonamontgomerycsd.com. Choose the Parent Tab, click on ActiveParent, and follow the directions to create a new ActiveParent account for the 2020-2021 school year.

SUMMER LEARNING PACKETS are available on the website at winonamontgomerycsd.com and for pick up at the schools.  Drop off in bins in front of the school June 1-30.

We are looking forward to the day when we can be back in our classrooms teaching and learning.  Until then, WMCSD students should read, write, learn something new, and get some exercise each day
