Tiger with mouth open

It’s a GREAT Day to be a TIGER!

Can I just start with that? It really is a GREAT day to be a TIGER!  I am so excited for what the next school year holds for our students and staff. Every day we are closer to being able to share what that looks like.

REOPENING SCHOOLS

WMCSD leaders are continuing to develop the district’s reopening plan. School principals and district leaders are attending virtual meetings with state leaders and are using state and national research to guide our daily discussions and decisions.

The district’s full leadership team will begin meeting every Wednesday morning at 9:00am to further discuss options and develop plans in the areas of academics, transportation, child nutrition, health and safety, mental health, and extracurricular activities.

We are thankful that 160 WMCSD parents have responded to the Reopening Schools Survey for Parents #1 that can be found on our website at winonamontgomerycsd.com.  If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the survey so we can hear your thoughts and opinions about reopening schools.

TIGER ATHLETICS and ACTIVITIES

We are having great participation in the summer sports programs.  Thank you to our coaches, student athletes, and parents for your dedication to doing this well and preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The volleyball court at Knox Gym looks fantastic!  A great number of students and parents attended the information meeting about the newly-added sport which took the place of slow-pitch softball.

WMCSD COVID-19 TASK FORCE

I am pleased to announce that we are developing the WMCSD COVID-19 Task Force which will include all the members of the WMCSD Superintendent’s Advisory Council plus some additional members.  If you are interested in serving on the COVID-19 Task Force, please send Dr. Jackson an email via the COVID-19 hotline email at tigertalk@winonaschools.net.

The COVID-19 Task Force will work together to assess needs, understand concerns, solicit input, and share information about successfully reopening and operating our schools amid the COVID-19 global pandemic.  The COVID-19 Task Force will meet on June 25th, July 9th, and July 23rd.  All task force members will be asked health questions, have their temperature checked, wear masks, and observe social distancing.  Task Force members may also attend the meeting virtually.

Until next week, we are TIGERStrong!
