WINONA – For the third straight year, thanks to federal funds, the Winona-Montgomery School District will be providing all school supplies required for students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade at Winona Elementary School.
When students return to school on August 5, all supplies will be at the school and available for use.
Backpacks and lunchboxes will not be provided by the district.
WMCSD received ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund) Funding to prevent, prepare, and respond to needs directly or indirectly related to the COVID-19 pandemic. ESSER funds are not guaranteed to recur on an annual basis.
This investment of supplying approximately 630 students at Winona Elementary School with all supplies for the entire school year at an approximate cost of $50,000.
“These additional funds have been so beneficial to the students and teachers of the Winona-Montgomery School District,” said Rana Mitchell, assistant superintendent and director of federal programs. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity once again to give parents some financial relief in preparing to go back to school.”
